Common questions

Tap a question to expand it. Most issues are covered here.

Museum Log uses your iCloud account to sync. To check the basics:

  • Both devices are signed into the same Apple ID.
  • Settings → [your name] → iCloud → iCloud Drive is on.
  • Museum Log is enabled in iCloud → Apps using iCloud.
  • Both devices have a working internet connection (CloudKit sync requires it).

Sync is usually within a minute, but can take longer for large photo sets. If everything looks right and visits still aren't appearing after ten minutes, force-quit Museum Log and reopen it.

The good news: if iCloud Photos is on, your photos are still in your library — they just need to re-attach to each visit.

Museum Log will try to restore photos automatically the first time you open a visit on the new device. For that to work:

  • iCloud Photos must be on (Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Photos).
  • Museum Log must have Photos library access (Settings → Museum Log → Photos → Full Access).
  • Your photos must have finished downloading from iCloud (it can take a while on a fresh device).

Visits logged before this feature shipped (May 2026) won't restore automatically — they pre-date the cross-device identifier. We're working on a one-time migration tool; in the meantime, you can re-attach photos manually from the visit detail page.

Our atlas covers the world's 50 most-visited museums — anywhere else, just type the name and tap "Add" or hit return. Free-text museums work everywhere in the app: they show up in your logbook, your passport, and your statistics. They just don't have pre-populated location data.

If you visit a niche museum a lot and would like it added to the atlas, email us — we expand the list when there's clear demand.

The Profile tab (rightmost in the tab bar) has both options: Logbook Colour and Logbook Font. Pick whatever you like — they're free at launch.

Museum Log is free, so there's nothing to refund right now. If we ever introduce paid features, refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple — Apple's process is at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Two options, depending on how thorough you want to be:

  • Delete a single visit — open the visit, tap the menu, choose Delete.
  • Delete everything locally — uninstall the app from your iPhone.
  • Delete the iCloud copy too — Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Museum Log → Delete Data.

We don't store your data on our servers, so there's nothing extra to request. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

Not yet. Museum Log is iPhone-first while we get the experience right. iPad and Mac (via Catalyst) are likely next; Android is being considered. Email us to register your interest in any of these and we'll let you know when they launch.

We'd love to hear it. Email hello@museumlog.app with the subject "Feature request" and a short description of what you're trying to do and why. We read everything and reply.

Sorry about that. To help us fix it quickly, include in your email:

  • What you were trying to do.
  • What happened instead.
  • Your iPhone model and iOS version (Settings → General → About).
  • The Museum Log version (Profile → bottom of the page).
  • A screenshot or screen recording if relevant.

Email hello@museumlog.app with the subject "Bug report".
